Leena Linnainmaa

Leena Linnainmaa works as Director at the Central Chamber of Commerce of Finland and is a member of the executive management team of the Central Chamber of Commerce. She is mainly active in company law, corporate governance, and consumer legislation. She is a member of numerous legislative working groups and committees at the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Employment and the Economy. She attends expert hearings at parliamentary committees and gives statements on new legislation to different ministries.

She is a member of the Finnish Corporate Governance working group and a member of the board of directors of GS1 Finland Ltd. She is also a member of the European Commission’s network of stakeholder experts on European contract law (CFR-net).

Before her present employment at the Central Chamber of Commerce of Finland Leena Linnainmaa was Legal Counsel at the Finnish Bankers’ Association and Secretary General of the Deposit Guarantee Fund and the Investors Compensation Fund. She has more than 10 years of experience on the financial sector.

Leena Linnainmaa is Past President of the European Women Lawyers Association (EWLA) and has held leading positions in other NGOs as well. She is also Past Vice President of the National Council of Women of Finland and Past President of the Finnish Women Lawyers Association, as well as a member of the European Commission’s Network of Women in Decision-making.

Leena Linnainmaa is author or co-author of ca 12 legal books and numerous articles. She published Woman’s Law Book that covers the Finnish legal system from a female point of view in 2001 and a fully updated edition in 2008.

In December 2008, Ms Linnainmaa was decorated as Knight, First Class of the Order of the Lion of Finland.

She studied law at the University of Turku and took her Master of Laws degree in 1988. She was also trained on the bench.
